Our Lady of Pompeii enjoys a lively and comprehensive music program.  Music Ministers at Our Lady of Pompeii use their gift of music to serve the parishioners at weekend liturgies, Holy Days, and other special liturgies throughout the year.  Vocalists and instrumentalists of high school age and up are all welcome to this exciting ministry!

Parish Choir Ensemble

The OLP Parish Choir Ensemble provides musical leadership at the 10 am Sunday Mass as well as Holy Days and other special liturgical celebrations.  Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings in the church from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.  The Parish Choir Ensemble welcomes both instrumentalists and vocalists of high school age and up and performs a diverse repertoire of all styles of liturgical music authentically.

Cantors
Cantors at OLP provide musical leadership at the 4:30 Saturday Vigil Mass, 8:30 am and 11:30 am Mass on Sunday, Holy Day Masses, and other special

liturgical celebrations throughout the year.  The

Cantor's role is to lead the congregation in the singing  of hymns and acclamations, while being sensitive as to not sing over the congregation through excessive use of the microphone.  Cantors regularly meet with and are coached by the Music Director.  Cantors are expected to be well prepared each week and should be comfortable with greeting the congregation before each liturgy and announcing hymn numbers.  We are ALWAYS looking for new cantors!

Christmas Eve Choir
The Christmas Eve Choir provides musical leadership at perhaps the most beautiful liturgy of the year, the 10 pm Christmas (night) liturgy.  The Christmas Eve Choir also provides a diverse program of four part SATB Christmas Choral music and carols.  All vocalists of high school age with experience in reading music are welcome!  This group is often blessed to be joined by special guest professional vocalists who serve as "section leaders", as well as professional brass instrumentalists.

For more information, contact Music Director, Peter Gonciarz at 716-863-6522, ext 110.
