A Commandery of the Knights of Saint John was established at Lady of Pompeii Church in 1955. During our long history, our members have always practiced to the best of their abilities both the teachings and the traditions of holy mother the Catholic Church.
Many of our members have been and are still very active in church organizations for many years. They have served the church as parish council
members, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, bingo workers, and heads of church committees, honor guards at Confirmation, Holy Thursday and
Always ready to give a helping hand, each Commandery of the Knights of Saint John support their local parish priest and do whatever is asked of them including church repairs and preventive maintenance. In their tradition of helping the needy, the Knights of Saint John, with names supplied by their local parishes, assist needy families at Christmas time by supplying baskets of food or gift cards for local supermarkets. Keeping with our tradition of charity we have assisted families who have suffered personal losses from floods, wind, fires and health problems.
In support of local community organizations the Knights of Saint John have made financial contributions to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Club and many other organizations who request a donation.
To help encourage and further Catholic education the Knights of Saint John offer scholarships. In support of National Holidays and local community events the Knights of Saint John have marched proudly in local parades always carrying the American flag with the greatest amount of respect and dignity.
Many of the members of the Knights of Saint John are military veterans who have served proudly and died for our country to keep it "The Land of the Free". On Memorial Day each year at Mount Calvary, a special mass is held to honor our brother Knights of Saint John who have died, both as civilians and military veterans.
