Our Lenten Retreat
Dr. Edward Sri Draws Hundreds to “Living Lent” Retreat Cosponsored by Area Parishes
(Lancaster, N.Y.) A two-day Lenten Mission cosponsored by four Lancaster and Depew Catholic parishes drew an audience of about 400 to 500 people each night of the Mission at St. Martha Church in Depew on March 15 and 16. Both nights of the retreat were live streamed on the St. Martha YouTube channel.
The presenter for the retreat was Dr. Edward Sri, Catholic theologian and author. Dr. Sri travels internationally, speaking to tens of thousands of people each year. During the two night retreat, Dr. Sri spoke on several topics including reflections on Mary and the rosary, virtues, how to defend the Catholic faith in a modern world, and Biblical connections to the Mass. "Dr. Sri really engaged the audience, which spanned a wide variety of ages!” commented Sister Joyce King, CSSF, Pastoral Associate at Our Lady of Pompeii in Lancaster. “His honesty regarding the widespread existence of relativism in society was enlightening as he encouraged us to hold fast to the truth of our faith."
Dr. Sri spoke with attendees and signed books following his talks both nights. This is the seventh consecutive year four area parishes – St. Mary of the Assumption and Our Lady of Pompeii in Lancaster and St. Martha and St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta in Depew – have collaborated on a Lenten Mission.
